IRVINE : UCI Vice Chancellor Up for Nebraska Post

UC Irvine Executive Vice Chancellor L. Dennis Smith is one of four finalists for the job of president of the University of Nebraska.

Regents of the University of Nebraska are expected to announce on Sunday their selection of the new president.

On Thursday, the regents interviewed University of Northern Iowa President Constantine Curris, the last of the four finalists to go before the regents.

The other two finalists for the Nebraska job are Gregory O’Brien, chancellor of the University of New Orleans, and Warren Baker, president of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Smith served as acting chancellor of UC Irvine from October, 1992, to July 1, when L. Laurel Wilkening took over that post.
