San Dimas : Mansion to Become a B & B

Share

An Upland couple has bought the historic San Dimas Mansion for $650,000 and plan to turn it into a banquet and bed-and-breakfast lodge by next month, a real estate agent said Wednesday.

The Eastlake Queen Anne-style mansion, at San Dimas and Bonita avenues, was built in 1887 and operated as a hotel until the Caruthers family bought it two years later.

The building, which is on the federal and state register of historical places, had operated as a restaurant from 1980 until 1990.

The Caruthers Family Trust originally had the 8,600-square-foot structure on the market for $1.4 million, said agent Wes Purkiss, who made the sale to William and Aloma Davis, who are in the banquet business. Escrow is expected to close this week.
