LAKE FOREST : City Newsletter to Be Sent to All Residents

Share

For the first time, the City Council will talk directly to its citizens through a newsletter to be sent to all residents.

Residents can expect the first issue, tentatively scheduled to premiere the first week in December, to be like a community bulletin board, said city officials.

“I’ve had a lot of calls and conversations with individuals who don’t know what services are available in the city,” said Mayor Ann Van Haun. “We hope to reach as many households as possible to inform them what the City Council is doing.”

About 25,000 households in Lake Forest and the surrounding communities of Portola Hills and Foothill Ranch will receive the newsletter. Last week, the council selected PRINTmastery Printers and Publishers of Lake Forest to produce the newsletter.

City officials called for quotes on only the first issue of the color newsletter, and PRINTmastery submitted a low bid of $4,345, including printing, writing and production costs. The city will pay $4,500 for postage, bringing the cost of the publication to $8,845.

PRINTmastery won the single-issue contract over 14 other bidders. The next lowest bid was $115 more than PRINTmastery’s, while the highest received was $9,487 for one issue.

The city plans to distribute the newsletter four times a year.

Council members also settled on Lake Forest Leaflet as the name for the publication.

The newsletter will have continuous features such as a listing of City Hall contact numbers and updates on coming events.
