AT&T; Confirms Talks on European Alliance: Chairman and CEO Robert Allen said the long-distance company is holding talks with France Telecom and Germany’s Deutsche Bundespost Telekom on a joint venture, but he would not say whether the three are close to an agreement. Allen said in Detroit that American Telephone & Telegraph Co. is interested in forming partnerships to provide global information services to multinational corporations.
