3D Systems Posts $270,305 Profit on Record Sales

Valencia-based 3D Systems Corp., a maker of computer-imaging systems, posted a profit of $270,305 for its third quarter ended Oct. 1 on record quarterly sales of $8.1 million.

The profit contrasts with a net loss of $544,177 in the same period last year on $6.9 million of sales.

The company said the latest quarter’s net income figure includes a $100,000 charge related to discontinuing its Japanese subsidiary’s operations. In place of the unit, 3D said it has appointed INCS Inc., a Japanese engineering-services company, as its exclusive distributor in Japan.

For the nine months, 3D’s net loss narrowed to $920,469 from $1.3 million in the year-earlier period. Sales climbed 14% to $22.5 million from $19.8 million a year ago.
