Share

Battalion Chief Clarence Martin was promoted to fire chief this week.

Martin, 46, succeeds William Daley, who retired from the Fire Department in September after 30 years of service, including 14 years as chief.

Martin will be the fifth fire chief since the department was established in 1925, said City Manager Mark Scott, who announced the appointment. The department has a staff of 84 firefighters and support personnel, and a $10-million annual budget.

The new chief joined the department in 1975 and has been one of four battalion chiefs for the last 3 1/2 years.
