Nathanson Begins His Federal Prison Term

Share

Former California Coastal Commissioner Mark L. Nathanson entered the low-security federal prison camp at Dublin, Calif., this week to begin a four-year, nine-month sentence for using his office to extort payments from Hollywood celebrities and others.

The camp, east of Oakland, has neither walls nor fences--one of a number of federal facilities for nonviolent offenders who are not considered flight risks.

Nathanson pleaded guilty in June to soliciting almost $1 million in bribes from those seeking Coastal Commission permits.
