LOS ANGELES : 2 Meetings Set Monday on School Restructuring

Share

The Los Angeles Unified School District will hold two public meetings Monday to discuss issues related to a major restructuring of the system.

Under a plan announced this week by Supt. Sid Thompson, the district’s central bureaucracy and regional offices will be dismantled and replaced by self-governing community clusters of high schools and their feeder elementary and middle schools. Ten task forces have been formed to plan for the overhaul, which will be put into place by July, 1994.

One group, which will decide the number of clusters within the district, will hold its first meeting at 4 p.m. Monday at the Downtown Business Magnet, 1081 W. Temple St.

Another committee assigned to determine the role and job description of cluster leaders, the administrators who will advise the new school communities, will meet at 4 p.m. Monday at Webster Middle School, 11330 W. Graham Place.
