Senior citizens can have chart clout too. Frank Sinatra’s “Duets” album, featuring the Chairman crooning with such stars as Barbra Streisand, Luther Vandross and U2’s Bono, made a big splash on The Times’ Southern California pop album chart, premiering at No. 2. Another relative “codger,” fortysomething Meat Loaf, rules the pop singles chart with “I’d Do Anything for Love.” Add to that “River of Dreams”--No. 15 locally and No. 7 nationally--by Billy Joel, who’s also in his 40s. It’s the graying of the pop charts.
