Plan for Hansen Dam Needs to Be Stopped

Share

* Despite a huge deficit, the madness of unnecessary federal spending goes on (“U.S. Senate OKs Funds for Hansen Dam Restoration,” Oct. 28).

It is estimated that the lakes built on high ground will bring up to 20,000 outsiders per weekend to our small community. I don’t think most residents want these lakes, but we have no way to express our objection.

Rep. Howard Berman, who proudly sponsors this silly expenditure of money that will have to be added to the national debt, has admitted publicly that it would be ridiculous to continue this project if the city doesn’t have the considerable amount of money needed to run it. I can’t believe the city, which has a financial crisis, would spend the money on this, over much greater needs such as more police. How do we stop the madness?
