HUNTINGTON BEACH : Robbery Suspects Caught on Way Out
Two men were arrested early Sunday after they allegedly held up a fast-food restaurant and then tried to outrun police.
Police received a 911 emergency call at 1:15 a.m. from the Burger King restaurant at 16331 Beach Blvd., Sgt. Luis Ochoa said.
The dispatcher handling the call “was able to hear the robbery in progress,” Ochoa said.
The responding officers arrived at the restaurant as the suspects were running out the door.
A chase on foot followed, Ochoa said, and the suspects were arrested.
Police found a pistol on one of the men and another gun was discovered nearby.
Officers recovered $2,000, the apparent loot from the restaurant, Ochoa said.
Suspects Jeff Maurice Jackson, 24, of Lynwood and Leon Thompson, 24, of Bellflower were being held at Huntington Beach City Jail, Ochoa said.
There were about five employees in the restaurant during the robbery; none of them was hurt in the crime, Ochoa said.
