Cool, Clear and Breezy Weather Expected for Holiday Weekend

The rain should be gone from Orange County by this morning, leaving the way open for a cool, clear and breezy holiday weekend.

“The cold front moving through late (today) and Wednesday will cool things down a little bit,” according to Curtis A. Brach, a meteorologist for WeatherData Inc., which provides forecast information for The Times.

By Thanksgiving, it should be mostly sunny, according to the National Weather Service. The rain was largely due to a weak storm front lingering off the coast of Southern California.

Rain was recorded in trace amounts along coastal areas, including Lake Forest, Newport Beach and San Juan Capistrano, Brach said, falling as light showers through Monday night. The skies should gradually clear today, remaining mostly clear through the weekend.

The next potential storm system is now dropping slowly to the southeast through the Gulf of Alaska, Brach said, and is not expected to affect California until at least early next week. Today’s high temperature will be in the mid-60s to lower 70s, with afternoon and evening lows in the 40s and lower 50s.
