Saunders Has Knee Surgery

Share

Chaminade High running back Franklin Saunders has undergone reconstructive surgery on his right knee at Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood.

Saunders said Dr. Lewis Yocum, who performed the operation Tuesday, repaired the torn anterior cruciate ligament with a graft. Although doctors were concerned there might also have been damage to the medial collateral ligament, none was found, Saunders said.

Saunders was injured on his first carry in the Eagles’ Oct. 8 game at Baldwin Park. He did not play in the remaining five games, finishing with 744 yards in 108 carries.

Saunders said he has scheduled recruiting trips to Colorado and Washington State but has not decided what others he will take.
