Wuerffel to Miss SEC Title Game
Florida quarterback Danny Wuerffel will undergo arthroscopic surgery today to determine the extent of a knee injury sustained during Saturday’s loss to Florida State.
Team physician Pete Indelicato said tests Monday showed “some suspicious ligament damage” in Wuerffel’s right knee.
Regardless of what doctors find today, Wuerffel will miss Saturday’s Southeastern Conference championship game against Alabama, Indelicato said.
Wuerffel set a national record this year for the most touchdown passes in a season (22) by a freshman. He has thrown for 2,230 yards, only 32 yards shy of Tommy Hodson’s SEC record for most passing yards in a season by a freshman.
