California Healthcare Appoints Interim President, Chief Executive

Quentin L. Cook was named interim president and chief executive of San Francisco-based California Healthcare System, one of the largest nonprofit medical systems in Northern California.

Cook, 53, replaces G. Rodney Wolford, who resigned Nov. 10.

Cook has been general counsel to CHS since 1986. He was acting president of the organization from September, 1992 to June, 1993.

Founded in 1986, CHS serves more than 3.6 million people in San Francisco, San Mateo, Marin, Alameda, and Contra Costa counties. Its hospitals have more than 2,334 beds and admit over 70,000 patients annually. They represent over $934 million in annual revenue and have assets exceeding $1 billion.

Anne-Drue M. Anderson has been appointed first vice president and treasurer of H. F. Ahmanson & Co. and its principle subsidiary, Home Savings of America.

In the new position, Anderson will be responsible for managing capital market activities, including the liquidity and investment portfolios and non-core liabilities.

Before joining Ahmanson, Anderson was the bank and thrift strategist for First Boston Corp. in New York.

Silicon Graphics Inc. said it has hired Kirk M. Loevner as vice president and general manager of its applications and markets division. Loevner is a former vice president of Apple Computer’s AppleSoft Products Group.

Loevner replaces Stephen G. Ursenbach, who has been named vice president of customer services and industry marketing for Silicon Graphics’ North American Field Organization.

The company is based in Mountain View, Calif.
