Traffic Suit Against Walnut Is Dropped

Share

The City of Industry has dropped a lawsuit it filed against neighboring Walnut because the two sides have come to an agreement over how traffic problems will be resolved near a planned shopping center in Walnut.

Industry filed its suit in September, shortly after the Walnut City Council approved plans for the 26-acre Snow Creek Plaza, situated at the northwest corner of Valley Boulevard and Grand Avenue.

The suit alleged that Walnut prepared inadequate traffic, air quality and other environmental studies.

The settlement calls for Walnut and Industry to work together on a $200,000 traffic improvement project at Valley Boulevard and Grand Avenue.

Industry has agreed to pay 72% of the cost; Walnut will pay the rest. Walnut officials say they’ll pass those $56,000 in costs along to the developers of the Snow Creek Plaza project.
