Bellflower : Current Pool Halls Exempt From Billiards Ordinance
After a year of heated debate and complaints from pool hall owners, the City Council has voted to exempt all current businesses from the city’s strict billiards ordinance, which was passed last year.
However, the ordinance will still apply to new business with more than three pool tables. Those billiard parlors have to close at midnight unless they receive special permission from the council. In addition, no one younger than 18 is allowed inside the parlor during school hours.
If the law is violated, the owner could be charged with a misdemeanor, Planning Director Bruce Leach said.
