Serial Molester Blamed for Another Attack
Police on Wednesday night announced another attack attributed to a man blamed for the rape or molestation of about two dozen San Fernando Valley schoolchildren. The crimes set off protests from parents who said they were not adequately warned that a serial molester was in the area.
An 11-year-old girl fought off the molester at Hazeltine Avenue and Gilmore Street about 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, Cmdr. David Gascon said.
Gascon said the girl was on her way to Van Nuys Elementary School when she realized she had forgotten something and turned back. “She found herself being followed by someone who (she realized) answered the description of the molestation suspect, who followed her to her house,” Gascon said. The girl thought the man had gone, but when she went back outside, he grabbed her. She was able to break free, he said.
