IRVINE : Ferguson to Meet With Constituents

Share

Taking a page from Charles Kuralt, Assemblyman Gil Ferguson (R-Newport Beach) and his staff will hit the road in a rented motor home today, visiting constituents at shopping centers in Irvine and Costa Mesa.

The “Mobile District Office” is designed to give the public a convenient way to meet Ferguson and get questions about state government answered, said Pete Calagna, field representative for Ferguson.

“This is the first time we’ve done it,” Calagna said. “The idea is to go out where the public is and let them talk with their Assembly member and express their concerns.”

The motor home will pull into the Costa Mesa Courtyards on 1855 Newport Blvd. at 10 a.m. and stay until 1 p.m.

Ferguson will be at the Crossroads Shopping Center at the corner of Culver Drive and Barranca Parkway in Irvine from 2 to 5 p.m.

Among the issues Ferguson will discuss is the state budget.

Staffers will be on hand to deal with specific problems residents might have with state agencies. Refreshments will be served.

“This is an outreach thing,” Calagna said. “We want to make (ourselves) available for people.”
