USC Fans Are Hoping This Comeback Against UCLA Won’t Fall Short

It hurts to do it, but as a Trojan I must congratulate UCLA on its fine victory over USC and its well-deserved trip to the Rose Bowl.
But after reading Saturday’s Viewpoint letters from UCLA fans, I believe the most popular course at the Westwood institution must be Nyah Nyah Nyah Nyah 101.

Regarding Bill Goodale’s crying (Viewpoint, Nov. 27) over alleged biased officiating in previous USC-UCLA football games:
Even when they win, they whine.

It is curious to note that in last week’s Viewpoint, UCLA fans did not congratulate their team. Instead, they insisted on tasteless potshots at USC.
I sincerely hope that UCLA fans, as Pac-10 representatives, do not further embarrass the entire conference with the alarming lack of class they demonstrated last week.

Since these UCLA fans take such delight at poking fun at USC rebuilding their football heritage, they must take particular pleasure at the state of their once-proud basketball program, now mired in mediocrity. I will wager that John Robinson leads the Trojans to a national championship before Jim Harrick leads the Bruins anywhere other than a seat in front of a big-screen TV when serious basketball starts to be played.
Any bets?
