The search continued Monday for a private airplane carrying a Brea woman from here to Nevada that failed to return as scheduled Friday.

Linda Moran, 43, and pilot Gerald Baldwin, 55, of Corona flew off in a single-engine Mooney 20-N on Nov. 29 between midnight and 5 a.m., Lt. Col. Ed Crankshaw, a spokesman for the Civil Air Patrol, said Monday.

The two were supposed to spend last week in Carson City, Nev., on business for the Windsong Farm of Corona, where show horses are raised, Crankshaw said. However, officials could not confirm their arrival in Carson City.

Moran, a mother of three teen-agers, kept several horses at Windsong and also worked there as a secretary.

Windsong colleagues called authorities after she and the pilot did not return or telephone by Friday.

On Saturday, investigators searched the grounds of airports in Chino and Carson City, and other landing strips in between, but found nothing, Crankshaw said.

Since the weekend, five search planes have been flying over Southern California and an additional seven over Nevada to look for the silver and white aircraft, which had burgundy and black trim, officials said.

The Mooney has a tail registration number of N231NL, and could make the round trip from Chino to Carson City on a full tank of gas.

“Searchers are taking the most-often used routes they would have taken,” Crankshaw said. “And that’s through the mountains and through the desert.

“We’re checking communications record for any calls they might have made for help, or to see if they might have radioed to check on weather conditions. They were flying in windy weather, light rains, with possibly some snow and low clouds,” he said.

CAP officials could not find keys to Baldwin’s hangar at Chino Airport until Monday, and found only his car inside.

“So far we don’t have any direct leads where we can find them yet,” said CAP Capt. Carl Kennedy.

Moran’s husband, Paul Moran, 45, declined to comment Monday, and Windsong officials could not be reached for comment.

Anyone with information about the plane, Baldwin or Linda Moran is asked to call Kennedy at (916) 424-4338.
