Ventura County sheriff’s deputies responding to a report of a loud party in Moorpark were attacked by a group of youths who hurled rocks from a nearby hillside, officials said Tuesday.

A Saticoy boy and a 20-year-old Saticoy man were arrested on suspicion of assault on a police officer and vandalism late Monday. Two teen-age girls were cited for curfew violations, investigators said.

Deputy Laurie Camou sustained minor injuries when she was struck in the chest by a rock, and two patrol cars were damaged. Camou required no medical attention, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.

Police were called to the 1200 block of Walnut Canyon Road in Moorpark about 11 p.m. Monday. Investigators said that as deputies were questioning four suspects, others began throwing 5-inch-diameter rocks at the officers and their patrol cars from a nearby hillside.

Ramon Arellano was the only adult arrested. The others, all juveniles, were cited and released to the custody of their parents, officials said.

Arellano was being held at Ventura County Jail on $5,000 bail, a jail official said.
