LOS ANGELES : County Panel Sets Hearing on Immigration Issues
Immigration--legal and illegal--will be the subject of hearing Friday by the county Commission on Human Relations. The hearing will be from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union of Hebrew Union College, 3077 University Ave.
Speakers will include Cardinal Roger M. Mahony and representatives of Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, the Asian Pacific Americans for a New L.A., the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and the restrictionist Federation for American Immigration Reform.
Testimony will address hostility toward immigrants and legislative proposals dealing with immigration. The commission will recommend a policy on immigration to the Board of Supervisors.
