Running back Napoleon McCallum, who underwent an appendectomy Nov. 27, is making a rapid recovery, according to Coach Art Shell.

Shell has been insisting that McCallum could be back before the end of the regular season Jan. 2. On Wednesday, Shell moved the date up.

“There’s speculation that (he could be back) possibly next week or the week after,” Shell said. “He’s healing fast, according to what I’ve heard. He’s been working out some and running.”
