YORBA LINDA : Kiley, Welch Voted Mayor, Pro Tempore
After serving one year on the City Council, Barbara Kiley was picked as mayor and Daniel T. Welch as mayor pro tempore this week.
Generally, the mayor’s job is rotated to the mayor pro tempore, which would have given the position to Henry W. Wedaa this term.
But Kiley and Welch were joined by former mayor John M. Gullixson in voting against Wedaa for both positions.
Kiley said her goals for the year include continuing to create a working environment on the council and to keep politics out of council chambers.
Kiley said she also hopes to get started on the town center project, which calls for upgrading and improving the downtown area.
