NHL ROUNDUP : Panther Victory Is Third in Row

Jody Hull had a goal and an assist and John Vanbiesbrouck stopped 37 shots to help the Florida Panthers to a 5-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Friday night at Winnipeg.

The victory was the third in a row and fourth in five games for the Panthers, who defeated the Mighty Ducks and the Kings earlier in the week.

Jesse Belanger added two assists for the Panthers, who never trailed after Gord Murphy scored a power-play goal at 10:44 of the first period. Hull gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead a little more than six minutes later and Andrei Lomakin gave the Panthers a three-goal cushion midway through the second period.

Buffalo 6, Calgary 2--Alexander Mogilny had three assists and the Sabres scored four power-play goals at Buffalo, N.Y.

The victory was the third in a row for the Sabres, who moved above .500 for the first time since they won on opening night. Calgary had its four-game unbeaten streak ended.
