G WHIZ: Movie music credits usually say who played in a film, but rarely do they point out who didn’t perform. But it happens in “Wayne’s World 2,” where we are assured by the closing credits that Kenny G did not play any music in the film.

The disclaimer refers to a scene in which music that is identified as G’s leaves an audience in a soporific stupor. A representative of the saxophonist’s manager says that he was approached by the film’s producers about using real Kenny G music in the film, but, sensing that it wouldn’t exactly be complimentary, refused.

So who was the ersatz G? The credits say that studio musician Steve Tavaglione filled the role.
