SOUTH-CENTRAL : Sex-for-Hire at Two Motels, City Alleges

Share

The city attorney’s office has filed lawsuits against the owners of two motels described as centers for prostitution and is seeking an injunction against both establishments.

Named in separate red-light abatement suits filed last month are Yu Ling Liu, owner of the Nity Nite Motel at 5304 S. Figueroa St., and Prosful Corp. of Cerritos, which owns the Trojan Motel at 4760 S. Figueroa St.

The city attorney’s office said police have investigated at least 35 incidents, ranging from prostitution to homicide, at the Nity Nite Motel in less than two years.

“This is a blight in the community and there are lot of people who are upset about it,” said Edmund Fimbres, the deputy city attorney in charge of the case.

A move for an injunction barring the motels from renting rooms on an hourly basis, as well as requiring them to post large signs stating they are under surveillance by the Los Angeles Police Department for prostitution, is expected to be filed soon, Fimbres said.

Fimbres said both owners had responded to city letters but had failed to combat the problems.

The motel owners could not be reached for comment.
