Granny Goodwish and her magical storybook will guide you through fanciful holiday tales as the Rand Bohn Puppets stage “Happy Holiday,” a musical extravaganza Monday at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center.

Granny Goodwish is just one of 50 intricately crafted puppets created by master puppeteer Rand Bohn and his team of artists.

Bohn and his staff spent more than three years working on the costumed puppets, special effects, studio soundtrack and an exquisitely dressed multilevel holiday stage.

This production is filled with cheery songs, festive words and endearing melodies.

The cast is a blend of human, animal and imaginative characters whose Yuletide experiences come to life as the gracious Granny Goodwish reminisces and reads from her favorite holiday storybook.

With wit, charm and humor, Granny and her sidekick dog introduce an array of enchanting characters such as Tiny Twinkle, the Wizard of Wonderland, Ms. Kitty Glitter, a pack of persnickety penguins, rapping Christmas packages, a hippo named Hortense and a singing Christmas tree. And, of course, there is an appearance by Santa Claus.

The Rand Bohn Puppets will perform at the cultural center’s James Armstrong Theater, 3330 Civic Center Drive, Torrance. Show times are 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for children and $6 for senior citizens. Advance tickets are $1 off. Children will receive a gift at the performance.
