Share

The governing board of the Garden Grove Unified School District has named Dick Hain as its president for the next calendar year.

The five-member Board of Education voted last week for Hain, who has served as a trustee since 1981. As part of his duties, he will preside over board meetings and represent the district at official functions, said district spokesman Alan Trudell.

Hain, who succeeds Lynn Hamtil, is a retired principal and administrator who served in the district for 24 years. He has three grown children who attended Garden Grove schools, Trudell said.

Frank E. Noe, who was appointed to the board in August to fill a vacated seat, was named vice president of the board. Hain previously held that position, Trudell said.

Noe is a retired district administrator who now serves as an adviser to student teachers at Long Beach State University.
