Ilya Byakin scored a goal early in the third period at Philadelphia, breaking a tie and lifting the Edmonton Oilers to a 2-1 victory over the Flyers on Sunday night.

The Oilers won on the road for only the second time this season.

The Flyers have lost four in a row and five of their last six.

Byakin skated past Flyer defensemen Garry Gally and Yves Racine on a power play. He faked Philadelphia goaltender Dominic Roussel with a backhand and slid a forehand shot along the ice for his third goal at 5:45.

Byakin hadn’t scored since Nov. 9.

Doug Weight’s second assist of the game gave him 100 career NHL points.

Edmonton has a 3-3-2 record since Glen Sather took over as coach for Ted Green.

Chicago 2, San Jose 1--Rookie Patrick Poulin scored his first goal and point since Nov. 18 and had a key assist to lift the Blackhawks at Chicago.

Ed Belfour stopped 21 shots for the Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks attempted 16 shots, third fewest in franchise history. The low mark of 13 was established in Montreal on Dec. 15, 1957.

Dallas 4, Florida 4--Jody Hull scored a shorthanded goal with 2:43 left in regulation to complete a rally from a three-goal deficit at Dallas.

Dave Gagner, Neal Broten and Mark Tinordi all had a goal and an assist as the Stars built a 4-1 lead early in the second period.

But Brian Benning, Scott Mellanby and Hull scored unanswered goals for the Panthers to salvage the tie and extend the Panthers’ unbeaten streak to four games.

Hartford 2, Boston 2--Steve Leach scored a power-play goal off his skate at 14:59 of the third period to give the Bruins the tie at Boston, ending a four-game losing streak.

Toronto 3, Winnipeg 3--Nelson Emerson scored at 8:34 of the third period to give the Jets the tie at Winnipeg. Emerson’s 16th goal came less than two minutes after the Maple Leafs took a 3-2 lead on a goal by Ken Baumgartner.
