Radio AAHS, the Minneapolis-based national children’s radio network, has just released its first recording on its newly formed Planet AAHS Recording Co. label. “Playing All Day With Radio AAHS” is a roundup of some of the music most requested by listeners ages 12 and under across the country. (Locally, Radio AAHS is heard on KPLS-AM 830.)

Among the 13 selections are Bill Schontz’s environmentally correct “Green Up,” Cheech Marin’s comically educational “Red and Blue and Yellow, Too” and Scooter’s just plain wacky “Broccoli and Chocolate.” Rosenshontz, Tickle Tune Typhoon, Joanie Bartels and Kermit the Frog are among other artists featured.

* Cassettes are $10 and CDs are $12, plus shipping and handling. Radio AAHS will donate $1 from each recording sold to the environmental children’s group Kids for Saving Earth. Information: (800) 399-AAHS.

A Christmas Message: Fans of the popular “McGee and Me!” Christian children’s video series can note the season with “McGee and Me! Twas the Fight Before Christmas,” one of 12 episodes in the live action/animated series about a young boy named Nick who finds his way through life’s moral lessons with the help of his little animated pal McGee.

McGee encourages Nick to share his New Testament teachings about the true meaning of Christmas with Derrick, who’s tough exterior hides the pain of living in an abusive home. Nick, awkwardly sincere, is no goody-goody, and it’s not as easy as he hopes. After a confrontation with a dangerous bully, however, both Nick and Derrick see the Christmas message more clearly.

Nick’s close-knit family, inclusive casting, Christian concepts without heavy-handed preachiness, and a very human young hero are the strengths in this Taweel-Loos & Company production from Focus on Family and Tyndale Christian Video. $12.99. In Christian bookstores or call: (800) 323-9400, Ext. 214.

Folklore Odyssey: Musician, storyteller and African instrument maker D. Mayer Theatre on Saturday and Sunday at noon and 2 p.m. Museum admission is $5 per person; children under age 2 are free. Information: (213) 687-8800.
