Beverly Hills : Development Plan Accord
The City Council struck a compromise Tuesday with a vocal alliance of civic and homeowner groups over development of the city’s industrial area, but some members of the influential group said they still are not satisfied with the plan.
Beverly Hills has had more than 50 public meetings since 1988 to determine the future of 43 acres of city-owned and private land just east of the Civic Center. About seven acres of private land and nine acres of city land are considered to have high development potential.
At the urging of the alliance, the council agreed in principle this week to eliminate from the plan residential and hotel development, most retail development, and to limit the height of buildings to two stories.
The council will review the final plan at its meeting Jan. 4 and is expected to do a first reading of the ordinance embodying the plan.
