Is producer Charles Gordon heading for a production deal at Universal Pictures?

Rumors persist that he may soon split from his brother Lawrence for his own deal at Universal. Universal spokesman Alan Sutton said there is nothing to report. Gordon could not be reached.

The rumors come as speculation increases that Largo Entertainment, which Lawrence Gordon heads as chairman, will be folded into Universal. Largo, which has produced such films as “The Super” for 20th Century Fox and “Judgment Night” for Universal, was financed with $100 million from electronics giant JVC in the late 1980s. Both JVC and Universal parent MCA are owned by Japan’s Matsushita Electric Industrial Co.

Charles Gordon has been a producer on such films as “The Super,” “Die Hard 2” and “Field of Dreams.”
