COUNTYWIDE FOCUS : PORT HUENEME : Bank Is Robbed Just Before Closing Time
A man robbed a Port Hueneme bank of an unknown amount of cash shortly before closing time Saturday afternoon, police said.
The man, who is still at large, entered the Great Western Bank at 619 W. Channel Islands Blvd. about 2:30 p.m. and presented a note to the teller that demanded cash, according to Port Hueneme police.
The teller complied, and the man fled the office before police could be alerted.
The man claimed to be carrying a weapon, but none was seen, police said.
Officers searched the area without success. The man was said to be 30 to 40 years old and was wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and a black baseball cap.
