UC Irvine Overpowered by Georgetown

Robert Churchwell led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points and Georgetown opened with a 25-6 run and went on to defeat UC Irvine, 93-64, on Saturday.

The victory was third in a row for the Hoyas (5-2). Irvine (2-3) has lost two of its last three.

The Anteaters made only eight of 27 shots in the first half as Georgetown opened a 44-23 lead.

The Hoyas began the second half with an 18-6 run and took their biggest lead, 74-41, with 7:22 to play.

Lloyd Mumford led Irvine with 15 points. Khalid Channell added 12 points and DeForrest Boyer had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

George Butler added 13 points and Cheikh Dia 12 for Georgetown. Othella Harrington had 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Joey Brown had 10 points and 10 assists.
