Coast Community District Board Elects President

Trustee Walter G. Howald has been elected president of the Coast Community College District.

His election came at the annual organizational meeting earlier this month. He will serve until December, 1994.

Howald was first elected to the Coast District in 1985. An attorney, he is president of a Newport Beach law corporation. He served as a consultant to the California State Assembly Higher Education Committee when it drafted a master plan for higher eduction.

The trustees elected Armando R. Ruiz to serve as vice president during 1994. Ruiz, a counselor at Saddleback College, has served on the Coast District board since 1983.

The board also elected Sherry Baum to serve on the Nominating Committee for the Orange County Committee on School District Organization. Ruiz also was elected to serve on the Orange County School Board Assn.’s Political Action Group Effort for 1994.

The district includes Coastline Community College, headquartered in Fountain Valley, Golden West College and KOCE-TV in Huntington Beach and Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa.
