OXNARD : Man Dies When His Car Hits a Tree
An Oxnard man was killed when his car slammed into a tree, authorities said.
Salvador Sanchez, 49, died instantly Monday shortly before 9 p.m. when his car struck a 100-foot eucalyptus tree at the corner of Rice Avenue and Wooley Road, authorities said.
The California Highway Patrol was unable to determine why Sanchez veered off the road. The car was going more than 80 m.p.h., the CHP said.
Sanchez was wearing his seat belt and had not been drinking, a CHP official said. Sanchez, an Oxnard farm laborer, is survived by his wife in Mexico.
