MOORPARK : Woman, 26, Killed in Crash Is Identified
A woman killed in a fiery car crash after being struck by an alleged drunk driver near Moorpark was identified Thursday as 26-year-old Samantha Huntley of Thousand Oaks, county coroner’s officials said.
Huntley was driving west on Tierra Rejada Road just east of the Moorpark Freeway when her car was struck from behind by a pickup truck driven by Glen Paton about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.
The impact caused her car to careen into a utility pole and burst into flames. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:10 p.m.
Paton, 29, and his two passengers, all of Simi Valley, were treated for minor injuries at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks.
Paton was then arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony drunk driving. He was being held late Thursday in County Jail in lieu of $125,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Municipal Court on Monday.
