Laker Loyaly? Depends on Whom You Ask

Share

Open letter to Jerry Buss and Jerry West:

We loyal Laker fans want you to know that we stand behind you during this painful year of rebuilding. While we may not spend our hard-earned dollars to come see Laker games as often as in the past, we are watching from a distance, waiting for the days when the Forum is rocking with “I Love L.A.” and opposing teams know what Laker basketball is all about.

It takes a lot of courage to rebuild and not settle for being forever mediocre (i.e. Celtics, Pistons). We can see the start of another great team with Christie, Peeler, Van Exel, and hopefully Lynch. With a top-five draft choice and a key free agent who can score and especially rebound on a nightly basis, the good times may return to the Forum as soon as next season.

Congratulations on having the foresight to take a loss in the short term in order to be successful down the road. We are saving our money and counting the days until we can come home to the Forum.

Cutting Kurt Rambis two days prior to his being paid a $250,000 bonus is the final straw for me, a loyal Laker fan for years.

Some of the ridiculous salaries being paid to unproven talents in the league and a mere $250,000 bonus can’t be given to a player who’s been around for years providing Laker fans with many exciting moments?

Cut Randy Pfund and Jerry West. Neither can produce a winner.
