‘Cops and Robbers’ Ends in Boy’s Death
A game of “cops and robbers” turned deadly when a 12-year-old boy using a loaded pistol shot a 6-year-old friend to death in a Diamond Bar house, sheriff’s deputies said Saturday.
Neither of the boys’ names was released.
“The older boy found the gun under a mattress and, apparently unaware the gun was real, incorporated it into the game and at some point discharged the weapon at the 6-year-old, striking him in the head and killing him,” Deputy Rich Erickson said.
There are no plans to file charges against the parents involved, although the matter will be turned over to the district attorney’s office for final disposition, sheriff’s Sgt. Ron Spear said.
