Adam Graves’ tie-breaking goal 43 seconds into the third period spoiled the return of former Ranger John Vanbiesbrouck, who made 51 saves in New York’s 3-2 victory against the Florida Panthers on Monday night in New York.

Mike Richter had 25 saves for the Rangers, who extended their home unbeaten streak to 16 games (13-0-3), while snapping the Panthers’ road unbeaten string at seven (5-0-2).

Pittsburgh 4, Ottawa 1--Goaltender Roberto Romano played his first NHL game in seven years and stopped 23 shots for Pittsburgh at Ottawa.

Romano, a 31-year-old who played for the Boston Bruins in 1987, helped the Penguins end a four-game winless skid.

The score was tied, 1-1, at the start of the third period, but Joe Mullen converted a one-handed pass from Ron Francis 20 seconds into the period and Jaromir Jagr scored at 10:23 on a breakaway.
