Andrew Vachss
* The photograph of President Clinton signing the National Child Protection Act (Dec. 21) shows several interested watchers. The caption remarks, “The man second from left was not identified.” Many regular watchers of the Oprah Winfrey TV talk show will be glad to identify him for you: He is Andrew Vachss, a writer and attorney who for many years has volunteered his time and services to child victims of abuse.
Oprah Winfrey has featured him on her show. His accounts of child abuse should frighten even those who think that they have already heard all the horrors that adults can impose on children. He and his work deserve wider recognition.
