Dolores (Val) Rains, a member of the Pleasant Valley school board, has been elected to the board of directors of the statewide California School Boards Assn.

Rains, 61, will represent school districts in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties on the 24-member board, according to Sherry Jean Cole, a spokeswoman for the Pleasant Valley School District.

“I view serving on the board of directors as an opportunity for me to better see statewide trends in education as they emerge,” Rains said. “I’m hoping that with this information, I will be a better trustee to my own district and to the other school districts that I represent.”
