Oral Roberts Loses Count, Waves Win
Damin Lopez made two free throws on a technical foul with eight seconds to play to send Pepperdine to a 76-73 victory over Oral Roberts on Saturday.
Pepperdine (8-4) had a 72-71 lead when Oral Roberts’ Chris McKinney missed a 24-foot jump shot with 16 seconds to play. LeNard Jones and Fred Smith scrambled for the loose ball with Pepperdine’s Derek Noether. Smith grabbed the ball and called time out.
But the Titans were out of timeouts.
Oral Roberts (5-6) then fouled Gerald Brown, who made two more free throws to boost the lead to 76-71 with seven seconds left.
Noether had 19 points and 15 rebounds for the Waves, who trailed by 11 in the first half but pulled even early in the second half.
Kenny Bohanon led the Titans with 19 points.
