STUDIO CITY : LAPD’s Valley Chief to Address Residents

Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Martin Pomeroy is scheduled to speak tonight at a meeting of the Studio City Residents Assn. The meeting marks the first time the San Fernando Valley’s new top cop will address the residents group, which is the largest in Studio City.
“We want to introduce the new chief to Studio City and make him aware of some of the issues we are facing,” association President Tony Lucente said. “We are really trying to strengthen our relationship with LAPD.”
Last month the group launched a Partners Against Crime program, intended to increase cooperation with the North Hollywood Division that covers the area. Under the program, which is similar to many others around the Valley, residents will conduct foot patrols with walkie-talkies and report suspicious activity to police. In return, police will provide residents with crime updates at monthly association meetings as well as material for a special Crime Watch feature in the association’s monthly newsletter.
Pomeroy plans to present his vision for continued community policing in the San Fernando Valley. A question-and-answer session with Pomeroy is also scheduled for the 8 p.m. meeting in the auditorium of Carpenter Avenue Elementary School, 3909 Carpenter Ave.
