The newest mega-hotel casino on the Strip, the $1-billion MGM Grand, fell victim Monday to the second daring daylight robbery of an armored truck in recent months.

The driver of a Loomis armored truck was outside the south entrance waiting for two partners to return from inside the casino when a masked gunman entered the cab, police said. The gunman forced the driver into the back of the truck, then drove the vehicle a few blocks to a waiting car where the cash was transferred.

The driver, who was handcuffed but unhurt, flagged down a passing car and called police.

Police did not disclose the amount of money taken.

Last October, robbers took $3.1 million from a Loomis armored truck outside the Circus Circus casino hotel.
