Disney Settles Suit Over Resort Plan

The City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved a settlement agreement with litigants in one of two remaining lawsuits opposing the proposed $3-billion Disneyland Resort.

The settlement ends nearly seven months of negotiations among the city, Walt Disney Co. and the various property owners who sued over the impacts of the proposed project.

The litigants, who include the owners of the Anaheim Plaza Resort Hotel and members of the Schlund family, who own property near Disneyland, agreed to drop the suit in exchange for undisclosed concessions from Disney and the city’s pledge to eliminate one of two designs for a parking structure that was under consideration.

Mayor Tom Daly said he was pleased with the settlement.

Disney officials declined to discuss details of the settlement. City officials said settlement is near in the final lawsuit brought by the owner of Tiffy’s Family Restaurant.
