Phone Calls to Santa Ana Disrupted
A glitch in a Pacific Bell timing device may be the reason why telephone service was disrupted for two hours Tuesday afternoon, affecting an unknown number of callers trying to get through to the city.
The malfunction may have affected all of Santa Ana’s 30 prefixes, company officials said.
The problem, which lasted from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., may have been caused by a timing device in Pacific Bell’s central office in Anaheim, said company spokeswoman Linda Bonniksen. She said the malfunction disrupted the service between Santa Ana and the outside intermittently, sometimes allowing callers to get through.
