Michael Aldridge, 73, actor in 1980s British series for American television. A native of Glastonbury, England, Aldridge made his stage debut in 1939 in the play “French Without Tears.” He is best remembered by U.S. audiences in such TV roles as an amateur detective in the “Mystery” series play “Charters and Caldicott” in 1988, as a raffish gin-guzzling journalist in “Charlie” in 1987 and as the lawyer Sir Abraham Haphazard in “The Barchester Chronicles” in 1984.
